Emotional Intelligence: It's a Game Changer!
Updated: Nov 7, 2022
Today I had a great session with a group from one of the restaurants I'm working with down south. They were on fire. It was awesome! I love it when we can build trust quickly so that by halfway through the workshop, they were opening up and sharing deeply.
Emotional intelligence training is not therapy but it does get you to connect with your emotions. Self-awareness is where it all begins and it's not always easy. The cool thing, though, is that when you begin to become self-aware, it's the first step in becoming intelligent about your emotions.
Today's discussions were rich. I saw many light-bulb moments and the dawning realizations about how emotions can impact you without you even knowing. One of the best takeaways from today for everyone was understanding that when someone comes across as reactive or defensive, there's always something going on with them that we don't know. And the follow-up to that knowledge is to remind ourselves that it's never about us. It's not even about them. It's about what they are currently experiencing and/or carrying around with them from the past.
I love this work and I love it, even more, when I see the impact of it on the faces of the people I am honored to have as clients. Let me know when YOU want to learn how to be more intelligent about your own emotions. It's life-changing!
